OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team looks to keep the momentum from two victories over the weekend as the Illinois-Chicago Flames visit the Miracle Hill Tennis Center on Saturday, March 12. First serve is set for 5 p.m. with doubles playing first followed by singles action.
Omaha is 5-8 on the season and 0-1 in Summit League play. The Mavericks are coming off a weekend that saw Omaha top Hastings 7-0 and Midland 5-2, but drop a 7-0 decision to Nebraska.
Freshman Alex Woodward is a team-best 5-8 in singles play. Woodward has played one match at No. 1, three at No. 2, and nine at No. 3. Freshman Sean Padios is 4-0 playing at No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6. Matt Dunn, John Ellis, Marko Minic, and Ignace Warson each have three wins on the season.
In doubles, the first-year duo of Dunn and Brent McKnight have a 4-3 record playing at No. 2 and No. 3. The No. 1 tandem of Warson and Colin Buckley have a 3-7 record this season.
UIC picked up wins over Elmhurst (7-2) and Summit League member IUPUI (4-3) last weekend and are 5-6 overall this season. In singles, Max Cederkall, Christopher Cole, Marcelo Dib, and Mitch Granger each have five wins this season. The pairing of Granger and Cole lead the Flames in doubles play with five wins, all at No. 1.
Omaha wraps up its six match home stand on Tuesday against Lamar. First serve against the Cardinals is set for 10 a.m. at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
