Men's Tennis Hosts Creighton on Sunday

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team returns to the court on Sunday evening against crosstown rival Creighton.  First serve is set for 5 p.m. at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.

Omaha is 3-6 overall and 0-1 in Summit League play.  Junior John Ellis and freshman Alex Woodward lead the Mavericks with three wins each in singles.  In doubles play, the duo of Colin Buckley and Ignace Warson own a 3-5 mark at the top doubles spot.  The first year duo of Matt Dunn and Brent McKnight are 3-3 this season playing both at the No.2 and No. 3 spots.

The Bluejays return to the court for the first time in nearly a month on Saturday night at Nebraska, before heading back to Omaha to face UNO.  Creighton is 1-3 overall, but lost its last match on Jan. 29 to Illinois State, 5-2.

Harrison Lang has a 2-2 mark for CU at the No. 3 singles spot.  There are five different doubles teams that have one win on the season.

Last time out, Omaha dropped two matches in Rockford, Ill. to Northern Illinois and Cleveland State.  Against NIU, Buckley and Warson topped Carlos Manzanas and Austin Russell at No. 1 doubles, 6-2.

Omaha will play three home matches next weekend.  The Mavericks host Nebraska on Saturday, March 5 at 5 p.m.  The next day, Hastings and Midland come calling with start times set for 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.
