Omaha Drops Neutral Site Match to Cleveland State

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Omaha men's tennis dropped a neutral site match to Cleveland State on Saturday afternoon in Rockford, Ill.  The Mavericks are 3-6 overall and 0-1 in Summit League play.  The Vikings improved to 4-2 overall.

UNO had its chances to pick up the doubles point, but CSU was able to sweep all three matches to earn the point.  At No. 1, Colin Buckley and Ignace Warson fell to Joe VanMeter and Andre Mick 6-3.  Matt Dunn and Alex Woodward played a close match at No. 2 doubles, but fell 6-3.  In the closest doubles match, Erik Anderson and John Ellis came up just short at No. 3, 6-4.

Omaha was unable to stop Cleveland State's momentum in singles.  On the No. 1 court, Buckley pushed Mirko Radosevic to the limit, but lost 6-2, 7-6 (3).  Dunn put forth a strong effort at No. 2 singles against Colton Buffington before falling 6-3, 6-4.  Minic and Anderson lost by identical scores at No. 4 and No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-2.

The Mavericks have a week off before hosting Creighton on Sunday, Feb. 28.  First serve is set for 5 p.m. at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
