Omaha Picks Up Decisive 1-0 Summit League Road Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Fazlo Alihodzic broke a scoreless tie in the 69th minute with his seventh goal of the season to give the Omaha men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Fort Wayne on Saturday evening at the Hefner Soccer Complex.

The win moved the Mavericks to 6-4-3 overall (3-0 Summit League) while the Mastodons fell to 7-6 (1-2 Summit League).

Midway through the second half, a Jake McCain pass found Alihodzic at the top of the 18-yard box. Alihodzic found separation and placed his shot into the top right corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead. The goal would prove to be the game-winner.

Fort Wayne came close to tying the score in the final minute of regulation, Oscar Uyamdu's header was on target, but Joseph Ghitis made the save.

Omaha held a 17-9 advantage in shots including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal. Alihodzic led the team with four shots, including three on frame. Mark Moulton and Noor Hamadi had three shots each. Ghitis made two saves and picked up his fourth shutout of the season.

The Mavericks return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 18, traveling to Bradley. The match is set for 7 p.m. in Peoria, Ill., and links to live stats and video will be available on OMavs.com.
