#euromavs Italy Blog: Post #4

Hello from Florence!

Our trip to Italy has been amazing so far, and we are all so fortunate to be a part of this experience. Milan was the most beautiful place I've ever visited, but I find Florence fascinating. Our hotel is located in a square called Piazza dell'Unita Valiana with shops, restaurants, hotels and museums all nearby, so there is constant activity around us.

Today when we arrived in Florence, we started with a tour of the Accademia Gallery, a museum just down the street that houses Michelangelo's famous sculpture of David. I was thrilled to see so much religion in the artwork and sculptures there. I'd also never seen that style of art in person from an iconic artist like Michelangelo. It was simply unreal to be an arm's distance away from the same famous pieces we see in TV, movies and books.

The Italian culture has been so different from ours in the United States, and I love it. I've noticed how important little things are, such as not exiting out of the door you enter or to not leave your napkin on your plate when done with your meal. The fashion here has also been a lot more formal than what I am accustomed to. This trip has been an opportunity for our team to learn and experience another culture, and on top of that, we're able to play the game we love.

Tomorrow we have a free day to explore more of Florence, and a lot of the guys are looking forward to seeing the markets and stores with leather goods. I think we're all excited for another great day of seeing, hearing and experiencing all Italy has to offer. Ciao!
