Mavs Drop Season Finale to Oral Roberts

OMAHA, Neb. – Rainy weather moved the men's tennis match indoors to the Miracle Hill Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.  Omaha dropped a 7-0 decision to Oral Roberts.

The Mavericks end the season with a 3-21 overall record and 1-5 in Summit League play.  Oral Roberts improved to 11-10 overall and 3-3 in league play.  The Mavericks are not eligible for the post-season in their last year of reclassification to Division I.

The match was bittersweet for senior Nathan Greteman as it marked the end of his career at UNO.  Greteman finished with the third most doubles wins in a career, posting 16 career victories. 

To open the match, Omaha dropped the doubles point to Oral Roberts.  John Ellis and Lukas Vanzura dropped a close decision at number three to Braxton Bates and Michael Sosnowski, 8-6.  Erik Anderson and Ignace Warson fell to number two to Ciaran Lavers and Amar Saletovic, 8-2.  Greteman and Colin Buckley went to a tie breaker at number one against Jan Pehnec and Alejandro Capdequi, but lost 8-7 (5).

The Mavericks were swept in singles play by the Golden Eagles.  Vanzura lost his match at number six to Lavers, 6-2, 6-1.  Anderson fell to Capdequi at number two, 6-3, 6-1.  Warson was defeated by Pehnec at number three, 6-2, 6-3.

Greteman suffered a setback in his final collegiate singles match at number five to Sosnowski, 6-1, 6-3.  Ellis lost at number four to Alvaro Santamaria, 6-3, 6-2.  Buckley played a close first set against Bates at number one, before falling 7-5, 6-1.
