OMAHA, Neb. – Nathan Greteman picked up a singles victory, but the Omaha men's tennis team fell to South Dakota State, 6-1, Monday afternoon at the Koch Family Tennis Center in Omaha. The Mavs drop to 3-20 on the season and 1-4 in Summit League action, while the Jackrabbits are now 13-8 and 2-2 in league play.
South Dakota State opened the match by taking the doubles point from the Mavs, 2-1. Marko Minic and John Ellis dropped their match at No. 3 to Mateus Moreira and Jonny Higham, 8-4. Erik Anderson and Ignace Warson fell to Gary Notkin and Stefano Blatt at No. 2, 8-6. Omaha picked up the win at No. 1 as Colin Buckley and Nathan Greteman took down Andrea Boglic and Parker Lawley in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (6).
In singles action, SDSU won five matches to secure the win. Anderson dropped a straight set match to Lovro Curcija at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0. Minic fell to Lawley at No. 2, 6-0, 6-1.
At fourth singles, Moreira topped Warson, 6-3, 6-1. Ellis fell in a close match at No. 5 to Notkin, 7-6 (3), 6-0.
Buckley split the first two sets with Boglic at No. 1, with Boglic winning the first, 6-4, and Buckley taking the second, 6-3. Ellis dropped the match in a super tiebreaker, 10-4.
Greteman picked up Omaha's lone victory at No. 6 singles by defeating Marco Paulo Castro in split sets. Greteman dropped the first set 6-3, before rallying to take the second 6-2. He then earned victory in the super tiebreaker, 10-5.
Omaha wraps up its season on Saturday, April 18 against Oral Roberts. First serve is set for Noon at the Koch Family Tennis Center.
