INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Omaha men's tennis team wrapped up an 11 match road trip Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 Summit League loss to IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind.  The Mavericks are now 3-19 overall and 1-3 in league play, while the Jaguars improve to 9-15 overall and 4-1 in conference action.

The Jaguars were able to take the early lead by sweeping the doubles action.  Ignace Warson and Erik Anderson dropped an 8-0 decision to Alex Toliver and Jose Calero at No. 2.  Marko Minic and John Ellis lost to David Beasley and Akshay Verma at No. 3, 8-2.  Nathan Greteman and Colin Buckley were competitive at the top of the lineup against Patrick O'Neill and Adam Reinhart, but fell 8-6.

Omaha could not earn a point in singles action as IUPUI swept all six matches.  Marcus Nalley defeated Greteman at No. 6, 6-0, 6-0.  Warson had a competitive match at No. 4 against Beasley, but was defeated 6-1, 6-1.  Toliver topped Anderson at No. 3, 6-0, 6-2.

"Our number one douubles team fought well today," commented head coach Tyson Thomas.  "We are still working on some things with our doubles teams."

Ellis played a hard fought match at No. 5 singles, but eventually was defeated by Verma 7-5, 6-2.  Omaha's top two singles players took their opponents into a third set, but could not get over the hump.  Minic battled Reinhart at No. 2, but lost in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (3).  At the top spot, Buckley lost the first set in a tie breaker 7-6 (5), before rallying to win the second set 6-4.  In the tiebreaker, Newis held off Buckley 10-5.

"We had some great performances at the number one, two and five singles spots," said Thomas.  "We are right on the verge and need a little more experience to close out these matches."

The Mavericks return home for the first time since early March to play the final two matches of the season.  Omaha hosts South Dakota State at the Koch Family Tennis Center on Monday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m.  The final match of the 2015 campaign will be against Oral Roberts on Saturday, April 18 at noon.
