BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Omaha men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to Florida Atlantic and Brown University on Wednesday on the FAU campus. FAU defeated UNO 4-0, before Brown topped Omaha, 4-0.
"We played two very good teams today," commented head coach Tyson Thomas. "The guys played really well and I am very happy with the way they played. We should be ready for conference play starting next week."
The losses drop the Mavs to 3-15 overall and 1-0 in the Summit League. Florida Atlantic is now 12-8 on the season, while Brown is now 14-2 overall.
Florida Atlantic 4, Omaha 0
Three singles matches did not complete with the outcome already determined.
At No. 1 doubles, Colin Buckley and Nathan Greteman dropped a decision to Richard Meade and Zandrix Acob, 6-2. Marko Minic and partner John Ellis fell in a close match to Stefan Burnett and Robert Dubuque, 7-6 (5). Erik Anderson and Ignace Warson fell to Gerald Nickerson and Ignacio Jimenez, 6-3.
Among the singles matches that did complete, Anderson lost to Neuner at No. 2, 6-1, 6-0. Warson dropped a 6-1, 6-1 match to Jimenez at No. 5. At No. 1 singles, Buckley trailed Andrei M-Kougoucheff 4-0 before resigning the match due to injury.
Minic trailed Sean Bacha 6-1, 3-4 at No. 3 singles, while Ellis was trailing Alexander Gitin, 6-0, 2-3 at No. 4 singles. Greteman was behind Nickerson 6-3, 4-0 at No. 6 singles when the match ended.

Three singles matches and one doubles match did not complete with the outcome already determined. Erik Anderson and Nathan Greteman trailed 78th-rated Justin To and Brandon Yeoh at No. 1 doubles, 5-3, when the match was stopped with the doubles point already won by Brown.
John Ellis and Marko Minic fell to Gregory Garcia and Peter Tarwid, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles while Jack Haworth and Aaron Sandberg defeated Ignace Warson and Lukas Vanzura, 6-3 at No. 3.
Minic and Ivan Kravtchenko never got their match started at No. 2 singles, while Anderson was behind To at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 3-2. Tarwid was leading Warson at No. 4, 6-1, 5-1 when the match was stopped with Brown having already clinched the match.
Of the matches that did complete, the Bears won all three singles in straight sets. Yeoh defeated Ellis at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1, while Greteman fell to Sandberg at No. 5, 6-1, 6-2. Vanzura was defeated at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-1 by Haworth.
The Mavs will remain on the road next weekend, playing Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. on Thursday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. (CT). Omaha will then travel immediately to Denver, Colo. for a Summit League match against 41st-ranked Denver on Friday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m.
