Buccaneers Top Mavericks in Florida

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Omaha men's tennis team opened its spring break trip with a loss to Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla. on Tuesday afternoon, 9-0.  The loss dropped Omaha to 3-13 on the season, while Barry improved to 13-0.

Barry swept the doubles portion of the dual.  On the No. 1 doubles court Colin Buckley and Nathan Greteman lost to the duo of Fabian Groetsch and Ahmed Triki, 8-3.   

Renato Lombardi and Fabian Pronnet defeated Erik Anderson and Ignace Warson at No. 2, 8-1. 

Marko Minic and John Ellis pushed Dominik Haider and Franco Echenique to the limit at No. 3 doubles before falling, 9-7.

In singles action, Ellis and Warson dropped their matches at No. 4 and No. 5 singles by identical 6-1, 6-0 scores.  Minic lost to Haider at No. 3, 6-2, 6-0.  Barry's Austin Cruz defeated Greteman at No. 6, 6-1, 6-1.

Anderson fell to Triki at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1.  Buckley lost a close match to Fabian Groetsch at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-1.

Omaha returns to the court on Wednesday, March 25 with a pair of matches in Boca Raton, Fla.  The Mavericks play Florida Atlantic at 8:00 a.m. (CT) before playing 68th ranked Brown University at 6:00 p.m.
