OMAHA, Neb. –Omaha Athletics and NET, Nebraska's PBS, announced today that they have entered into an agreement to broadcast four UNO hockey games this season.
“We are excited to continue our long-standing relationship with NET to bring the excitement of Maverick hockey to a statewide audience,” said
Mike Kemp, associate athletic director. “And again this year, we expect Fox College Sports to simulcast some of these games, helping to bring further exposure for our program at a national level.”
The schedule of games is as follows:
Friday, Nov. 6 vs. Minnesota Duluth, 7:07 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 8 vs. Denver, 7:07 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 23 vs. Miami, 7:07 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 13 vs. Western Michigan, 7:07 p.m.
Funding for the broadcasts is provided by UNO's Office of Academic and Student Affairs.
“Wherever possible, we want to tell the UNO story to the area, and our student-athletes are an important piece of the story,” BJ Reed, Senior Vice Chancellor said. “The broadcast agreement with NET not only offers us a way to share hockey with the region, but we also get a chance to work with NET to do some academic spotlight stories throughout the year.”
With the NET schedule, the Mavericks will appear on local, regional and national television nine times during the 2015-16 regular season. They will appear on CBS Sports Network on Friday, Jan. 22 vs. Miami, Friday, Jan. 29 at Colorado College and Friday, Feb. 12 vs. Western Michigan. They also will appear on the American Sports Network on Friday, Oct. 23 vs. Air Force and Saturday, Feb. 27 vs. North Dakota.
