OMAHA, Neb. - Christian Garcia scored two goals and
Xavier Gomez had one as the White Team won both halves of an intrasquad scrimmage, 1-0 and 2-0.
The Mavericks played two 30-minute halves with some players changing teams at the midway point.
In the first 30 minutes, Gomez received a corner kick from
Logan Mendez and roofed it for a 1-0 White lead. That proved to be the only goal of the first scrimmage. Team White had a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal.
In the second 30 minutes, Garcia scored 19:22 into the half after taking a pass from
Vance Rookwood and firing from 20 yards out into the far corner.
Although time expired on the second half of the scrimmage, play went on a little longer and Garcia slipped behind the defense and finished with his left foot to the right corner to end the scrimmage on a goal.
The regular season begins next Friday against Santa Clara at 7:30 p.m.
