Notice of Re-Extension of Scholarships

The University of Nebraska at Omaha is re-extending its offer to honor financial aid for former members of the UNO football and wrestling programs who were affected by the elimination of those teams in 2011.  Those affected will have the ability to receive the same financial aid amounts they had as of spring 2011, and receive those scholarships for not more than 135 credit hours attempted or six (6) years, i.e. until the end of the second semester of academic year 2016-17, whichever is reached first.  Attempted hours include all collegiate hours attempted at UNO and the six-year time period begins with initial full-time enrollment at any collegiate institution.

The extension is being offered to all members of the UNO football and wrestling teams on scholarship who did not accept the initial offer made on March 25, 2011 to maintain scholarship funding.  Those student-athletes who are currently on the active rosters of any NCAA or NAIA sanctioned team will not be able to take advantage of this offer.

Students who accept this offer will be required to sign a release of all claims arising from UNO's 2011 change of athletic conference under Rule 20.5 of the Division I manual and the discontinuation of football and wrestling.  If a student is under the age of 21, his parents or guardian also must sign the release.

If you have any questions, please contact Rita Henry, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, at (402) 554-4455 or by email at unostudentathlete@unomaha.edu.  The deadline to accept this offer is March 25, 2013.
