Felipe da Silva was twice named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week this season. The Mavericks finished tied for third in The Summit League with a 3-3 record, . If eligible for the conference tournament, the Mavs would have been the third seed. UNO is not able to participate in the conference tournament or NCAA postseason play until 2015 because of its NCAA Division I transition status.
Incarnate Word, a first-year Division I transitional school, is 6-7-1 overall this season. The Cardinals are competing as an Independent after playing in Division II last year. The Cardinals have lived on the road this season, playing 12 of 14 games away from home heading into their season finale on Saturday. Victor Pinal leads the team with 15 points on five goals and five assists.

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha men's soccer team put on a dominating display in a 4-0 shutout win over Fort Wayne last Saturday at Caniglia Field in the Summit League finale for both teams. The Mavs (5-9-1, 3-3 Summit League) scored two goals in a span of 1:25 midway through the first half to take control of the match, which was the first-ever win by a UNO soccer team at the new facility.
Christian Garcia, fresh off his Summit League Offensive Player of the Week award, scored the first goal of the match at 34:08.

Five Mavs Earn All-Conference Honors

Felipe da Silva was named to the All-Summit League First Team, and freshman forward
Christian Garcia was named Newcomer of the Year to lead the list of five Mavericks honored in the league's postseason awards on Thursday. In addition to his Newcomer of the Year honor, Garcia was also named to the All-League Second Team, as was sophomore midfielder

Mark Moulton were all selected to the All-Newcomer Team. The awards were voted on by the league's head coaches. Da Silva, a second-team pick last season, started every game at center back and played more minutes than any Maverick field player. He was named Defensive Player of the Week twice this season and had one assist. With da Silva leading the back line, the Mavs posted a 0.83 goals against average in six conference games to rank second in the league. The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native is the first UNO men's soccer player to ever earn first-team all-conference honors. The Mavs' top two scorers,

Chava Garcia, were named to the second team. Chava, an Omaha South grad, had a team-high 11 points on three goals and five assists this season. Christian, an El Paso, Texas native, finished with four goals and two assists for 10 points. He had eight points in Summit League play (3g, 2a) to rank second in the league among all players and first among all newcomers. Langston, a Sammamish, Wash., native, made 11 starts at left back as a freshman and had two assists to earn an All-Newcomer Team selection. He helped solidify the Maverick defense in conference play to allow just five goals in six league games. Moulton, a Creighton Prep product, had two goals and two assists for six points in his first season at UNO. Five of his six points came in conference games.
Da Silva Claims Final Summit Weekly Honor

Felipe da Silva was named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday in the final weekly awards of the season. It's the second weekly award this season for the junior defender. Da Silva had an assist on the Mavs' fourth goal of the day and played all 90 minutes in the Mavs' 4-0 shutout win over Fort Wayne last Saturday at Caniglia Field. Da Silva led a Maverick back line that did not give up a shot on goal in the match. UNO allowed just five shots total in the game in its second straight shutout and fourth shutout of the season. The Mavs posted a 0.83 goals against average in six conference games to rank second in the league.
Christian Garcia Wins Summit League Offensive Weekly Award

Christian Garcia was named Summit League Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 4. Garcia, an El Paso, Texas native, had a hand in all three goals in a 3-0 win at Eastern Illinois on Nov. 3. The forward had two goals and one assist on the day to lead the Mavericks. His five-point performance matched the school record, and his 10 shots in the match were a new school best. He also had four shots on goal to tie the school mark. Garcia opened the scoring in the 26th minute by taking a through ball from
Chava Garcia and beating the goalie from seven yards out on the right side. Garcia then assisted on a goal in the 53rd minute, and he capped the scoring in the 84th minute.
Da Silva Collects Summit League Defensive Player of the Week

Felipe da Silva picked up Summit League Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 30. The award was the first weekly honor for the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native. Da Silva led the Maverick back line in a 2-1 win over defending Summit League champion Western Illinois and a 1-1 draw with Kansas City for an unbeaten week. Da Silva played all 200 minutes on the week and helped the Mavs limit UMKC to two shots on goal and Western Illinois to four shots on goal. He also had three shots, two on target.
Chava Garcia Named Summit League Offensive Player of the Week
Sophomore forward
Chava Garcia was named Summit League Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16 for his performance at Drake. The award was the first weekly honor for Garcia, though he was named to the Summit League All-Newcomer Team last season. Garcia had one goal and two assists for a career-high four-points in the 4-3 loss at Drake. Garcia picked up his first assist of the game on a corner kick service to
Craig Buettner in the 14th minute to give the Mavs a 1-0 lead. With the Mavs trailing 2-1 in the second half, Garcia brought them back with a cross to Rookwood for a header goal in the 58th minute to tie the game. The Omaha South product then scored the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute, rebounding his own shot and finishing it for his first goal of the season. Garcia had three shots on goal in the match.
Rookwood, Grosey Sweep Summit League Weekly Awards

Matt Grosey as the Summit League Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, on Sept. 9 following the second week of the season. Rookwood's award was the first of his career, while Grosey picked up his second-career Summit League weekly award. In the Mavs' only game of the week, Rookwood scored the game-winning goal with 7:55 remaining to give Omaha a 1-0 win over Columbia. Grosey, the Mavericks' captain, posted his first shutout of the season in the victory, making him the only Summit League goalie to pitch a shutout in week two. Grosey made four saves - two of them on point-blank chances by Columbia in the final 15 minutes of the match to pick up his fourth career shutout.
