DENVER, Colo. - Zach Bolden's goal in the 63rd minute proved to be the difference as Denver beat the Omaha men's soccer team, 1-0, Saturday night.
Bolden took a one-touch pass from Reid Hukari and finished high to the near post at 62:45 to break the scoreless deadlock. The Mavericks (3-8-1, 1-2 Summit) were unable to find the back of the net on their 10 shots and five shots on goal. Denver (8-3-3, 3-0 Summit) finished with 13 shots and matched the Mavs with five on frame.
Craig Buettner had three of UNO's shots on goal, while
Mark Moulton had two. Both Moulton and Buettner had shots turned away in the game's final 10 minutes as the Mavericks hunted for the tying goal.
Matt Grosey had four saves, while Denver's Oliver Brown had five saves in the shutout.
The Mavs' next game will be the debut of the new soccer pitch at Caniglia Field next Saturday at 4 p.m. against Oral Roberts.
