Mavs Head to Music City to Play Belmont

    The Omaha men's soccer team heads to Nashville, Tenn., this Saturday to face Belmont in a non-conference game set for Noon. Live stats will be available at OMavs.com. Saturday's visit to Belmont is the final road non-conference game for the Mavs this season.

The Teams
    Omaha (2-7-1, 1-1-0 Summit League) is coming off a 1-0 overtime loss at IUPUI last Saturday. The Mavericks have played three overtime games this season and are 0-2-1 in those contests. The Mavs are led by Vance Rookwood and Chava Garcia's six points each. Rookwood has a team-high three goals, while Chava Garcia has a goal and four assists. Emir Alihodzic has two goals for four points. Senior goalie Matt Grosey has played every minute and has 29 saves, a .630 save percentage and a 1.64 goals against average. Omaha has outshot its opponents 156-106 through 10 games, but the Mavs have been unable to finish consistently. The Mavs' 15.6 shots per game are the most by any Summit League team, but their 5.8-percent finishing rate is sixth in the league.
    Belmont enters with a 4-4-2 record. The Bruins are in their second season as an independent in men's soccer. The Bruins are coming off a 1-0 loss at Missouri State on Tuesday. However, Belmont did beat Missouri State back on Sept. 7, 2-1 (OT), in Nashville. Raphael Colmanette has a team-high eight points on two goals and four assists. Alfred Edmonds and AJ Arnold have each scored three goals to lead the Bruins. Grayson Rector has played every minute in goal and has 37 saves, a 1.15 goals against average and a .771 save percentage. The Bruins are stingy defensively, allowing more than one goal just three times in 10 games.

Last Time Out
    INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI's Lance Davis scored the game's only goal 2:17 into overtime to give the Jaguars a 1-0 win over the Omaha men's soccer team last Saturday night. The Mavericks fell to 2-7-1 overall and 1-1-0 in The Summit League. IUPUI improved to 1-8-3 and 1-0-1 in league play. The start of the match was delayed an hour because of lightning. The Mavs tallied a school-record 24 shots to just 11 for the Jaguars and held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal in the loss. The Mavericks outshot IUPUI in the first half 15-2. The teams were even in the second half and overtime. Matt Grosey made three saves. In overtime, Ian Block played in a cross from the left side to Davis, who turned and scored his second goal of the season. UNO's Christian Garcia had forced a save by IUPUI goalie Eduardo Cortes just 45 seconds earlier.

    The Mavericks visit Denver next Saturday for an 8 p.m. (Central) matchup. The next four games on the schedule for the Mavs are conference games.
