Series History
Omaha will be meeting Western Illinois for the first time in program history.

Stats Glance
The Mavericks are well represented in the national and Summit League statistics so far this season. Giovanni Giattino is tied for 38th in Division I in assists (3) and is tied for first in The Summit League. Matt Grosey is 41st nationally in total saves (29) and is third in The Summit League. Vance Rookwood is tied for 77th overall in points (8) and is second in The Summit League. The Mavericks as a team are tied for 26th overall in total assists (12) and are first in The Summit League. Diego and Giattino Earn Summit League Player of the Week Honors
On Sept. 10, freshman midfielder Devin Diego became the first Maverick student-athlete to be named Summit League Player of the Week when he picked up the conference's offensive award. A week later, freshman midfielder Giovanni Giattino earned the same award to give the Mavs Summit League Offensive Player of the Week honors two weeks in a row. Playing in his first collegiate game, Diego played a huge role in the Mavs' 3-2 win over Seattle on Sept. 9 with two goals and one assist. In 44 minutes of playing time, Diego became the first Maverick in team history to score two goals in a game, and with five points was also the first to have more than two points in a single game. Giattino earned his award after his performance at the UC Riverside/Courtyard by Marriott Invitational from Sept. 14-16. Giattino accounted for both goals in the Mavs' 3-2 loss to San Diego State. He scored his first collegiate goal and added an assist while totaling a team-high four shots, including two on goal.

Making Strides
Just six games into the 2012 season, the Mavs have shown drastic improvement from 2011, when they went 1-11-1 in the program's first year of existence. In six games this year, the Mavericks have scored 11 goals, which is five more than the final goal total through 13 games last season. Omaha's players have combined for 34 points already this season, 19 more than the 15 recorded all last year. Vance Rookwood's eight points are greater than any UNO point total from all of last season, and Rookwood and Giovanni Giattino are the first players to record multiple assists in a season. Ten different players have recorded points for the Mavs this season, compared to seven last year.

Next Up for the Mavs
The Mavericks host IUPUI next Saturday at 1 p.m. in their first Summit League home game.
