Mavs Resume Summit Slate at Home Against Eastern I

The UNO men's soccer team returns home this Saturday for a 1 p.m. Summit League contest against Eastern Illinois (2-9, 0-2 Summit). The Mavericks (3-5-1, 1-0-1 Summit) are coming off a 3-2 non-conference loss at SIU Edwardsville last Tuesday. Omaha follows up on Monday with a 7 p.m. game at No. 20 Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane are 7-4-0 (2-1-0 Conference USA), but three of the losses are to ranked teams. Live stats will be available for both matches, and a live webcast will be available for the Tulsa match (purchase necessary).

Next Up for the Mavs
The Mavericks will make a long road trip at the end of the week. UNO travels to face Fort Wayne on Saturday in Fort Wayne, Ind. at 6 p.m. Following a few days in Fort Wayne, the Mavs will head to Milwaukee for a Tuesday 3 p.m. game at Milwaukee.

Last Time Out
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - SIU Edwardsville broke a 2-2 tie in the 65th minute and was able to cling to a 3-2 win over the UNO men's soccer team Tuesday night. The Mavs (3-5-1, 1-0-1) stepped out of conference play for the match against the Cougars (8-3), the second year in a row UNO has made the trip to the Missouri Valley Conference school. SIUE took an early lead in the fourth minute when Peter Kelly scored his first of two goals in the game. Craig Buettner scored his first goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1 in the sixth minute. Buettner finished from 15 yards out in the center of the box. Giovanni Giattino picked up his seventh assist on the play and extended his point streak to three games. Kelly tallied his second goal of the game and fifth of the season at 33:30 to reclaim a 2-1 lead for the Cougars. Less than four minutes later, UNO earned a penalty kick at 36:55 after an SIUE foul. Logan Mendez drilled home the PK for his first goal of the season, evening the score at 2-2. After four goals in the first half, SIUE scored the only goal in the second half, and that turned out to be the game-winner. Brett Lane headed home a corner kick at 64:26 for the 3-2 lead.

Scouting Eastern Illinois
The Panthers (2-9, 0-2 Summit) are coming off a 3-0 loss to Evansville on Tuesday. Tayron Martin, Chris Boswell and Jordan Collins each have two goals. Garrett Creasor has a 2.06 goals against average and a .667 save percentage. 

Scouting Tulsa
The Golden Hurricane (7-4-0, 2-1-0 CUSA) are ranked 20th in the latest NSCAA Top 25 Poll. Tulsa is led by Cristian Mata, who has eight goals and two assists. Akeil Barrett and Bryce Follensbee each have five goals. Mark Pais has a 1.09 goals against average and .769 save percentage with five shutouts.
