KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jordan Rideout scored 4:03 into overtime and Kansas City claimed a 2-1 win over the Omaha men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.
The Mavericks dropped to 4-9-1 and 2-2-1 in The Summit League, leaving them in third place in the conference standings with seven points. UMKC is 6-7-2 and 4-1 in The Summit League, good for a tie for first place.
UMKC's David Sarabia broke the deadlock just before halftime at 42:27, converting a free kick from 22 yards out.
Giovanni Giattino evened the match at 62:09. Giattino took a through ball from
Logan Mendez down the middle of the field and finished for his second goal of the season.
The Mavs went into overtime for the second time this season, but Rideout ended the match in the first five minutes. Sylvester Yiadom played in a cross and Broc Cramer flicked it to Rideout, who scored with his head past UNO goalie
Matt Grosey.
UMKC finished with a 13-6 shot advantage and 8-2 edge in shots on goal. Giattino had three of the Mavs' six shots in the match.
The Mavericks finish their home schedule on Sunday, Oct. 28 at Noon against conference-leader Oakland.
