This Week: The UNO women's basketball team returns home for a pair of games at Sapp Fieldhouse. The Mavericks will host the York (Neb.) College Panthers on Tuesday, Dec. 9 and the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats on Saturday, Dec. 13. Tuesday's game will tip at 5:30 p.m. while Saturday's game begins at 4 p.m.
The Records: The Mavericks are 1-4 so far this season and 0-2 in the MIAA. They're coming off an 87-70 loss at Fort Hays State on Friday, Dec. 5. The Panthers are 0-12 this season following a 97-45 loss to the University of Sioux Falls on Dec. 6. The Bearcats have a record of 4-4 overall and 0-2 in MIAA play. They're coming off a 67-48 loss at Washburn on Dec. 6.
The Coaches: Patty Patton Shearer is in her fifth season at UNO. She is 68-53 all time at UNO. Last year, the Mavericks started 14-1 (the best start in school history) and recorded their third-straight winning season at 17-12. A native of Marana, Ariz., Patton Shearer is a 1990 graduate of Rocky Mountain College. Jen Spickelmier is the head coach of York College. Gene Steinmeyer is in his 10th season as the head coach at Northwest. He is 495-272 all time as a head coach including a 15-year stint at Doane College. He is 135-131 all-time in Maryville.
The Series: The Mavs have played York just three times prior to Tuesday's match-up, winning each game. The last meeting was a 93-54 UNO victory on Dec. 7, 2007. The Mavs and Bearcats have squared off 23 times over the years with Northwest owning a slim 12-11 lead in the all-time series. UNO won the last meeting 71-64 on Dec. 14, 2007.

Coming Up: The Mavericks will play their final game before the holiday break on Friday, Dec. 19 when they host the Bemidji State Beavers. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
