Micah Rhodes

Micah Rhodes is in his third year as an assistant coach with the Omaha volleyball program in 2019.

Rhodes is the program's offensive and blocking coordinator, working closely with the pin attackers, middle blockers and setters. He also assists with recruiting, scouting and organizing Omaha's volleyball camps.

In 2018, Rhodes coached four Mavericks to All-Summit accolades. Isabella Sade and Sydney Case earned All-Summit recognition, while Anna Blaschko was named All-Summit Honorable Mention and Sadie Limback was tabbed a member of the All-Freshman team. Case, who also made the All-Freshman team, was named the league's Setter and Freshman of the Year.

Several Mavericks finished the 2018 season toward the top of the statistical charts under Rhodes' tutelage. Case led the Summit League and ranked 28th nationally with 11.11 assists per set. Blaschko was second in solo blocks (26), while Sade was second with a 0.343 hitting percentage and fourth in block assists (95).

As a team, Rhodes guided the Mavericks to a program-best hitting percentage in the Division I era (0.221).

In 2017, Rhodes' first season with Omaha, four Mavericks earned All-Summit accolades. Sydney O'Shaughnessy earned All-Summit recognition, Abby Bergsten and Isabella Sade were named All-Summit Honorable Mention, and Anna Blaschko made the Summit League All-Freshman team. Sade, who also made the All-Freshman team, was named the league's Freshman of the Year.

Several Mavericks finished the 2017 season toward the top of the statistical charts under Rhodes' tutelage. Blaschko led the Summit League with 32 solo blocks. O'Shaughnessy was second in the league with 10.05 assists per set, while Sade was second in block assists (94). Three Mavericks ranked in the league's top-10 in blocks per set: Sade (second, 1.04), Blaschko (third, 1.03) and Conlin (ninth, 0.84).

As a team, Rhodes guided the Mavericks to a league-best 2.38 blocks per set in conference-only games.

Rhodes came to Omaha after spending the 2016 season as a volunteer assistant coach at Creighton. During his stint, the Bluejays went 29-7, reached their first NCAA Elite Eight and won their third straight BIG EAST regular-season and tournament titles. Rhodes was also part of Creighton's 2016 BIG EAST Volleyball Coaching Staff of the Year, and he coached three AVCA All-Americans, five AVCA All-Region selections, five BIG EAST all-conference picks and the BIG EAST Player of the Year.

Prior to CU, Rhodes served four years (2012-16) as an assistant coach at Buena Vista, where he coordinated recruiting, travel and film. Rhodes worked with an All-American, three AVCA All-Region selections, two IIAC Freshman of the Year award winners, and the program's first IIAC Player of the Year at BVU, and he helped develop 10 All-IIAC honorees. For most of 2015, Rhodes led the team in all aspects as interim head coach.

Rhodes has also served as a head coach in the Premier Volleyball club organization.

A native of Grand Island, Neb., Rhodes began his career as a student manager with the Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team from 2008-11. He was also a four-year member of the men's club volleyball program, vice-president of the organization in 2011 and a three-year starting outside hitter, helping the team to three straight NIRSA Sweet 16 appearances. Rhodes earned his bachelor's degree in journalism with a major in advertising and public relations from UNL in 2011.

Rhodes and his husband, Paul Hanson, reside in Omaha.
