- Meet the changing needs of student-athletes.
Promote respect for diversity among student-athletes.

If you are going to a football or hockey event you will needed to staple your tickets to the sheet as well. Seniors
5 Points need to be completed by winter break.
Required Activity- Varsity Club 1pt (Informal meeting time as a senior class for your sport with an Administrator.)
Seniors will only be able to receive 1 code red point out of the 5 required points.
If your team coach has mandatory team Seminars you may substitute those meetings for all other points except the Varsity Club meeting.
The previous list of requirements is needed for each student athlete to complete the life skills program for each year. The schedule lends itself to a lot of individual team flexibility. Student-athletes have the opportunity to complete the 10 point requirement with community service, speaking engagements, leadership activities, community service, internships, and any piece of the program that may have missed due to transferring into UNO or would just like to take over again. Opportunities will be available all over campus for life skills points that may not be listed during the course of the year. You can ask to see if the event would be worth a point.
Point System
Each underclassmen must accumulate 10 points per school year, and seniors will need 5 points by winter break.
If these requirements are not met, the student-athletes will be required to participate in UNO Cleanup Day or 10 hours of community service in the summer and write a 1,000 word essay to the Athletic Director explaining why they have not fulfilled these requirements and why their aid should be renewed and/or why they want to continue as a student-athlete at UNO. If a student does not attend UNO Clean-up Day or does not write the essay, they will be required to have a meeting with the Compliance Director and one of the Athletic Directors prior to the following school year.
Seniors who do not fulfill these requirements will not receive first priority with post-graduate employment.
Programs
A comprehensive listing of programs for the 2009-2010 academic year will be provided to students at the start of the year. This list will be available on the web as well and will be updated throughout the year. In addition, student-athletes will be notified via email of additions to the schedule.
Some of the programs will be offered and/or sponsored by the athletic department. It is necessary that student-athletes sign up for these programs in order for the athletic department to provide the needed supplies.
Accounting
The Life Skills Coordinator will keep track of attendance and points for each individual. This information will be provided to coaches upon request. Each coaching staff will receive a mid-year update in January.
There will be attendance reports updated on the LifeSkills website every 2-3 weeks, so the coaches can monitor their team’s progress. The students will also be able to get on the website and check their points.
Any questions or disputes regarding attendance must go through Ted Anderson. Ted can be reached at 554-2957 or email at tmanderson@unomaha.edu.
