SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Mavericks wrapped up their time in the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate today, finishing tied for eighth place out of 13 with a final score of 856 (+4) in the two-day event.
Oral Roberts claimed first in the 54-hole tournament, shooting 834 (-18). Individually, Missouri State's Max Kreikemeier led all 82 golfers with a 206 (-7). Omaha was tied with Northern Iowa in eighth, and sat three behind sixth-place SIUE and Lindenwood, but were eight ahead of 10th-place UT Martin. Omaha's best round came in the first when they were tied for second with a score of 282.
Christopher Atkinson posted his best finish of the spring, tying for third place with a final score of 207 (-6). He was at the top of his game during the first two rounds, shooting a 67 (-4) in round one and 68 (-3) in the second. His first round score was the best of anyone in the event and was also tied for the fifth lowest score posted in any round of the tournament.
Connor Wilson also finished in the top 20, posting a final score of 212 (-1) to end up tied for 17th. His final round proved to be his best as he shot 69 (-2) and finished at or under par on every hole. Meanwhile,
Nolan Johnson and
Porter Topp just missed being in the top 50, with Johnson tying for 51st with a 221 (+8) and Topp tied for 54th at 223 (+10).
Also competing for Omaha were
Austin Goodrum (224, +11) and
Josh Peters (227, +14), who finished in 59th and 68th, respectively.
