UNO Blanks Central Missouri 47-0 For First Win at MIAA Duals

HAYS, Kan. - The top-ranked Nebraska-Omaha wrestling team earned bonus points in seven of ten matches and rolled to a 47-0 win over Central Missouri in the first session of the 2010 MIAA Duals at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
The Mavericks are now 10-1 in duals on the year. It's the second time this season that UNO has blanked an opponent in a dual.
Cody Garcia set a new school record with his 26th win by fall this season when he pinned Marcus Walker at 5:38 in the 133 pound match. Pat Kelley III had owned UNO's all-time single-season falls mark with 25 since the 1995-96 season. Garcia improves to 39-0 on the year with an 11-0 dual mark.
Mario Morgan won by fall over Cory Bloodgood. Morgan needed just 54 seconds to get the pin and his 31st win of the season. Esai Dominguez won by major decision 11-3 over Jesse Whitson at 149.
George Ivanov won his 10th dual match of the year with a 8-3 decision over Denis Ryzhov at 157. Nathan Sigman won his match at 165 with a 4-2 decision over Bryan Click. The two needed two overtime periods to settle the match. Sigman is now 32-14 with a 2-0 dual record on the year.
At 174, Aaron Denson won by fall over Mat Bailes at 2:02. Austin Boehm collected a major decision over Phil Witt 18-10 at 184 pounds. Jacob Marrs won his 30th match of the season with a win by fall over Doug Thompson. The pin is the 16th win by fall this season for Marrs. Elijah Madison defeated Brandon Hayes 5-3.
It's the 10th shutout all-time by the Mavericks under Mike Denney and is the third time ever that UNO has recorded two shutouts in the same season with Denney at the helm.
The Mavs battle Truman (2-10) at 3 p.m., followed by #15 Fort Hays State at 5 p.m. at the MIAA Duals.
