2010 MIAA Duals - Final Results

HAYS, Kan. - The top-ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha wrestling team capped off its sweep of the 2010 MIAA Duals with a 28-12 win over the 15th-ranked Fort Hays State Tigers at Gross Memorial Coliseum on Sunday evening. UNO went 3-0 on the day and outscored its opponents by a combined scored of 128-12.

The Mavericks improve 12-1 in duals on the season, while the Tigers dip to 11-4. The win marks the seventh dual win in a row for UNO, and the seventh of the year for the Mavericks against a Division II nationally ranked team.

The dual started with second-ranked Terrell McKinney falling to fourth-ranked Tommy Edgmon 3-1 in the 125-pound match. Edgmon scored a takedown with 12 seconds left in the third period to earn the victory.

Cody Garcia gave the Mavericks the lead with his 27th win by fall of the season, this time over Travis Kuhn at 1:59. Garcia is now 41-0 on the year with 13 dual wins.

At 141, third-ranked Mario Morgan battled Aldon Isenberg and picked up a 17-8 major decision win. The win is Morgan's 22nd-straight win of the season. Esai Dominguez win his sixth dual match of the season with a 3-2 decision over Levi Younkin at 149.

Fourth-ranked Danny Grater upset second-ranked George Ivanov 3-2 in the 157-pound showdown. The Tigers won their second-straight match of the dual when seventh-ranked Blake Malloy defeated Nathan Sigman 2-1 at 165.

Second-ranked Aaron Denson collected his fifth dual win of the season with a win by fall over Shawn Kuhlman at 1:11 of the first period. At 184, Chance Rencountre upset fourth-ranked Austin Boehm 13-9.

Top-ranked Jacob Marrs pinned Steven Kyler at 1:52 of the first period at 197. Marrs won all three of his matches on Sunday by fall, and has 18 falls on the season. Elijah Madison defeated Justin Glenn 5-2 in the 285-pound battle.

UNO is now 6-0 all-time at the MIAA Duals.

The Mavericks host their final home dual of the season when the sixth-ranked Augustana Vikings (11-5) visit Omaha on Wednesday, Feb. 17. The dual is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Sapp Fieldhouse and can be seen live on NET2.
