Cedar Falls, Iowa - The top-seeded University of Nebraska at Omaha wrestling team won its first dual match of the season and of the 2010 NWCA National Duals Saturday morning over Mercyhurst, 38-6, in first-round action at the UNI-Dome.

Redshirt freshman Terrell McKinney got the Mavericks started in the 125-pound match with a 13-5 major decision over John Worthington. It was McKinney's first dual win of his career.

Cody Garcia (133) picked up his first dual win of the season in quick fashion over Levi Smeltzer at 1:03 of the first period. Garcia now has a team-leading 20 pins on the season.

Mario Morgan beat Lance Pitcel by major decision in the 141 pound match.

The upset of the dual came in the 157-pound match with redshirt freshman George Ivanov earning a 7-5 win over No. 1 ranked Andy Lamancusa for his first dual win as a Maverick. Lamancusa placed third at last year's NCAA National Tournament and is a two-time All-American.

Sophomore Brett Rosedale also picked up his first dual win as a Maverick in the 174-pound match by pinning Patrick Carter at 2:05 of the first period.

Redshirt freshman Mitch Brown recorded his first dual win of his career in the 184-pound match with a 7-1 decision over Eric Lundgren.

Senior Jacob Marrs pinned Chris Nocchi at 6:53 of the third-period.

UNO's two losses of the dual came at 149 pounds with Tait Weatherbee falling to Jordan Shields, 3-2. The 165-pound battle saw top-ranked Josh Shields square off with fifth-ranked Ryan Pankoke. Shields earned a point in the second period to edge Pankoke, 1-0.

The Mavericks will face the eighth-seeded St. Cloud State Huskies at 1 p.m. today in the second round of the 2010 NWCA National Duals/Cliff Keen National Duals. UNO is 26-3-1 all-time against SCSU with its most recent meeting last season resulting in a 37-6 Maverick win on Jan. 22.
