Six Mavs Named to the All-MIAA Women's Tennis Team

Six UNO Mavericks were named to the All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Assocation women's tennis team on Thursday afternoon. Honorees were decided by the conference's eight head coaches, which were not allowed to vote for their own players. Nebraska-Omaha tied with Emporia State for the second-most first team honorees with three, both behind Washburn.

Mavericks Lose in Semifinals to Bearcats

St. Joseph, Mo. - The No. 5 seeded Mavericks were defeated 5-1 in their MIAA Tournament semifinal match against Northwest Missouri at the St. Joseph Tennis and Swim Club on Saturday evening. UNO's potential third place match against Emporia State will depend on an available venue, which will be decided early Sunday morning. The loss against the Bearcats drops the Mavericks to 8-8 overall on the season, with a 3-4 record in regular season Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. No. 1 overall seed Northwest Missouri State moves on to the finals where they will meet No. 2 seeded Washburn.

Kansas City, Mo. - The UNO women's tennis team defeated Truman State in Saturday's action of the MIAA Women's Tennis Championship Tournament in Kansas City, 5-4. The narrow victory moves the Mavericks a step closer to the final, as they will now face Northwest Missouri State in the semifinals, who blanked Missouri Western earlier Saturday. The win boosts the Mavericks' overall season record to 8-7, while Truman State's season is over with the loss.
